Penn Manor to offer free coding camps for grades 1-6 this summer

Penn Manor will be hosting in-person Elementary Coding Camps for students in grades 1 through 6 this summer at Conestoga Elementary School. The camps are free and will include a daily snack for participants. Parents will be responsible for transportation to and from the school.

Each camp session is limited to 25 students, and slots will be filled based on registration status on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to space limitations, students may only attend one camp session.

Junior Coding Camp for students entering grades 1 and 2 in the fall 

This two-day camp will be offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. June 13-14 and June 15-16. Students will explore coding using Scratch Jr., a visual programming language used to create theme-based projects. Students will use colored blocks to program a robotic car and will work in teams to complete challenges.

Coding Camp for students entering grades 3 to 6 in the fall

This four-day camp will be offered June 13-16 and June 20-24. All experience levels are welcome. 

Beginner and intermediate students will explore the Scratch visual programming language through Google’s CSFirst program to create theme-based projects. The beginner camp will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 13-16; the intermediate camp will run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 20-24.

Experienced students will have a refresher coding project using Google CSFirst and then will have the opportunity to build and code robots. The experienced camp will run from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 20-24.
