PMHS sports teams start postseason play

Penn Manor High School sports teams have had successful seasons and are headed for the spring playoffs. Here’s how you can follow the Comets in the coming days:

 
Lancaster-Lebanon League Track & Field Championships – Boys and girls compete Friday, May 8 (4 p.m.), and Saturday, May 9 (10 a.m.), at Hempfield High School.

Baseball – The team has qualified for both Leagues and Districts. The Comets are 16-4 and rank fifth in the District Power Rankings. Penn Manor placed second in the Section 1 final standings, behind Hempfield.

The Comets play Lancaster Catholic in the first round of the L-L League Tournament at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Ephrata High School. District games begin Monday, May 18. Penn Manor will host a first-round game at 4 pm that day against a team to be announced later.

Girls’ Lacrosse – The team qualified for the League and District Playoffs.  The girls lost in the first round of Leagues to eventual champion Manheim Township and will get another shot at MT in the first round of District Playoffs on Tuesday, May 12, at 5 p.m. at Manheim Township.

Boys’ Volleyball – The boys’ volleyball team qualified for both League and District Playoffs. The boys will open L-L League Championship play Friday, May 8, at Cocalico High School at 6 pm vs. Ephrata. Districts will begin Thursday, May 14.

Softball – The girls’ softball team secured a District Playoff spot with at 12-6 record and 10th-place ranking in Districts. The girls will begin district play on Tuesday, May 19.
