One current and two former Penn Manor students have been honored with awards from the National Youth Arts Association for their roles in Penn Manor High School theater productions.
Abby Geiger was named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Maria in Penn Manor’s spring 2015 musical, “The Sound of Music.” Also honored was Alyssa Crook, named Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Elsa Schraeder in “The Sound of Music.”
In addition, Dani Shaub was named Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Play for her portrayal of Allegra Blackwell Worthington in Penn Manor’s fall 2014 play, “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens.”
Dani is a senior at Penn Manor High School. Abby and Alyssa both graduated in June 2015.
The 2014-2015 award recipients were selected by geographic region from nominations by a panel of more than 25 judges and reviewers who attended shows. More than 400 productions were considered for awards, including shows in 70-plus cities in 13 states.
Penn Manor students and staff members also were honored with several award nominations, including the following:

- Lead Actor in a Musical: Alex Davis as Captain Von Trapp, “The Sound of Music”
- Supporting Actor in a Musical: Paul Harrold as Max Detweiler in “The Sound of Music”
- Supporting Actress in a Musical: Jules Leddy as Liesl in “The Sound of Music”
- Supporting Actor in a Play: Paul Harrold as Tony Blackwell in “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens.”
- Supporting Actress in a Play: Alyssa Crook as Justine Worthington in “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens.”
- Supporting Actress in a Play: Skyla Taglieri as Peggy Sue Brumley in “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens.”
