Hundreds of Comets fans turned out Thursday night to give Penn Manor sports teams a rousing sendoff as they start their fall seasons.

Prior to the festivities, more than 1,000 chicken dinners were sold to raise funds for scholarships for graduating Penn Manor students.

Athletic director Jeff Roth introduced the fall athletic teams, and the Penn Manor Marching Unit gave a short preview of its “Eastern Enchantment” show. The cheerleaders also performed.

After the introductions, teams of athletes and coaches competed in some pretty unusual games that included dropping a quarter into a funnel from their foreheads and retrieving three cherries from a bowl of whipped creme without using their hands.

The activities helped raise funds for the fight against cancer.

All in all, it was a great night to be a Comet!
