Penn Manor High School students and visitors may have noticed a new addition to the lobby of the school recently – a large plaque honoring the “Founding Friends” of Penn Manor Education Foundation. The plaque was erected between the trophy cases outside the gym to thank supporters who helped the Foundation grow its endowment to more than $1 million for the first time.

Their contributions will enable PMEF to continue to award grants to teachers to enhance classroom instruction and student learning and provide scholarships to graduating high school students. Since 2000, the Foundation has awarded nearly $600,000 in grants and $357,000 in scholarships and awards.

The plaque honors those who helped make that possible and serves as a reminder of the important role community members play in supporting Penn Manor schools and students.

PMEF board president Thomas Seiger gathered with the Foundation’s Ambassadors, Willis and Martha Herr, to dedicate the plaque. They were joined by four students who have benefitted from Foundation-funded programs at their schools – Mackenzi and Isiac Nafzinger of Eshleman Elementary School and Chloe Vassot and Nate Rosenberg of Penn Manor High School.
