Students and staff at Eshleman Elementary School are celebrating “Read Across America” with a schoolwide tribute to Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, who was born March 2, 1904

The school’s lobby was transformed into “Seussville,” a colorful space where students in all grades were encouraged to DARE – Drop Everything and Read.

Teachers decorated their classroom doors as Dr. Seuss books, and students and staff were encouraged to dress as Dr. Seuss characters. Monday was “Cat in the Hat” day and Tuesday was “Fox in Socks” day.  “Wacky Wednesday,” “Thing 1 and Thing 2 Thursday” and “Character Dress-up Friday”rounded out the week.

The activities were held in conjunction with “Read Across America” and were designed with one goal in mind – to encourage students to read!
