If your child does not have the required immunization records, he/she will be turned away from school beginning Thursday, August 31. Please take steps to assure this does not happen.
If your child/children lack the required immunizations, you will be notified today by telephone of the situation. Here is the message:
This is Mike Leichliter, superintendent of the Penn Manor School District. Today is Tuesday, August 29, 2017. Recently, the Pennsylvania Department of Health made changes to immunization requirements for children who attend public schools.
You are receiving this telephone call because, as of today, Penn Manor School District’s records indicate that your child is not in compliance with state immunization requirements. It is important that you provide documentation of your child’s updated immunization records, or documentation from a physician’s office of a scheduled appointment for these immunizations, for compliance.
If this documentation is not provided by tomorrow, August 30, Penn Manor School district will be forced to exclude your child from school beginning this Thursday, August 31, until documentation is provided.
Please contact the nurse at your child’s school if you have any questions. Thank you.
The bottom line is that parents must have their children immunized or provide a letter from a doctor’s office verifying they have made an appointment for the required immunizations or their children will not be admitted to school on Thursday.
An information sheet on the new immunization requirements is here: Vaccine requirements
